Groh Residence

Dennis and Carole Groh

Dennis and Carole Groh have expertly and lovingly tended their conifer collection in  the backyard of their suburban home. APG toured their place in 2011; we return to see the changes made over time, and also to learn how they dealt with significant natural and manmade challenges to their landscape in 2023… ice storms, downed  power lines, 70 MPH winds and neighborhood water and sewer upgrades. This promises to be a very educational event you won’t want to miss!

Gary will focus on the PROPER cultural practices that are needed to keep the natural vigor that boxwoods have in place, to increase their ability to defend themselves.

Garden Tour - Perennial Accents

Tuesday, August 8, 2023

(Members Only)

5:00pm - 7:00pm

Royal Oak. Exact address will be posted here, on FB and emailed prior to the meeting.

Situated on a corner lot in Royal Oak, Andy Torvinen’s garden is truly a gem of an urban garden. He has skillfully combined his plant knowledge, design creativity and upcycling philosophy to create a sun/shade oasis. His relatively small lot features a variety of perennials, shrubs, understory and mature trees. A joyful combination of plant material and non-plant items obtained from other’s discards (can you say curb side shopping?) has resulted in a unique and fun setting. Come join the tour and be inspired how much beauty can happen in a small space!
BONUS: Plants will be available for sale!
